By Train or Commuter Bus

Union Station is home to D.C.’s national and commuter train service as well as many regional bus companies. Union Station is a 1-mile walk from the WSC or a short Metrobus ride (Route 97). See below for more information on metro rail and bus.

By Plane

When flying into Washington Reagan (DCA), Washington Dulles (IAD), or Baltimore (BWI) airports metro and regional train service is offered to downtown D.C. DCA is the closest airport and is a short metro ride to the Capitol South or Eastern Market stations. See below for more information on metro rail and bus.

Getting Around

Metro Rail + Bus

The DC metro area’s public transportation agency, WMATA, runs the DC Metrorail and Metrobus system. In order to ride Metrorail or Metrobus, you must have a Metro card. These cards can be purchased online or from machines inside of the metrorail stations and cost $5 each. Trip prices vary based on distance and time and average trip costs are $4 each way.

Circulator

DC also offers a limited service bus called the DC Circulator. The Circulator is free to ride at most times. If fares are in place, the regular Metrocard will be charged at $1 per ride.

Driving + Parking

The WSC has three parking spaces, each large enough to accommodate up to a 15-person van or vehicle no longer than 19 feet. Spaces are 8 feet wide. Vehicles that back into the space gain the foot over the parking stop. Spaces must be reserved in advance.

  • Vehicles must not extend into the alley, which is DC city property, that is identifiable by its concrete. 

  • Vehicles too large for WSC parking may park at Union Station, which is eight blocks away.

  • Buses or vehicles towing trailers must follow Capitol Hill security protocols, review the protocols online here.
