What Our Visitors Say

“I was thoroughly impressed with the facility…All the kids on our trip couldn’t stop talking about this being the best choir tour they had ever been on and that is all due to your facility and help with finding us places to serve and perform…”

- D. Meggs, Bluff Park United Methodist, Birmingham, AL

Cafe Capitol Hill

picture-47

From their website: “Café Capitol Hill has been serving the local community since the 1990s by preparing and serving Sunday meals to our hungry neighbors. This warm hospitality is more that just serving a meal - we offer a safe place to those living on the margins of our community - and a place where they can feel at home. The café is opened around noon to offer a meal and fellowship to its approximately 60 visitors.”

What do volunteers do?

The Café can always use your helping hand. Volunteers are needed to help prepare meals, set up the dining area, serve the guests of the Café, talk with these neighbors, and help clean up. This is a great opportunity for a smaller group, no more than 8 volunteers.

The work shift is on Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Contact: Dave Kennedy at DKennedy [at] cogr [dot] edu or on his cell, 847-687-7952.

Café Capitol Hill is located inside the Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, easy walking distance from WSC.

Walking directions: Head south toward Pennsylvania Ave and Seward Square from the Washington Seminar Center. Turn left at Seward Square SE. The Church that houses the Café is located in the 421 Seward Square SE on the right side of the street.
